Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Help For Ibs Treatment

Irritable bowel syndrome is a common problem with the intestines. Functional disorder means there is a problem with the function of a part of the body, but there is no abnormality in the structure. This disorder most commonly affects people between the ages of 20 and 30 and is twice as common in women as in men. The syndrome can be divided into four types depending on which is the main symptom - abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation or diarrhoea alternating with constipation.

Sometimes another illness, such as an acute episode of infectious diarrhea (gastroenteritis) can trigger IBS. People with IBS often report that family members also have the disorder, suggesting a possible genetic cause.

IBS with constipation may be caused by a response to certain "trigger" foods. In order to reduce or eliminate them, you need to try and avoid these foods, and eat instead foods that can help you lessen the chance of constipation to occurring.

Sometimes it is not obvious what is causing the IBS, and this is why I recommend that people with IBS always keep a food diary. This will keep a record of the food eaten at each sitting, any snacks, the amount of food, the time of the day the food was eaten, and whether the meal was relaxed or rushed along with what symptoms are being experienced.

Antispasmodic drugs, which may ease cramping - examples include mebeverine, belladonna, hyoscine and peppermint oil capsules Read more on Arthritis. Check out for diseases and herbal remedies.

A sensation of having to rush to the toilet. Crampy pain in the stomach area ( abdomen ). Diarrhea or constipation- people with IBS may also experience alternating bouts of constipation and diarrhea.

Try to avoid alcoholic drinks, coffee and carbonated beverages since these may impact on the elimination process. Avoiding Caffeine, which is an ingredient in coffee and caffeinated colas can also potentially help reduce constipation.

As mentioned, certain diets and eating habits can be the cause for disrupting the normal function of the intestines. In order to help decrease the time for your food to move through your intestine, a change in your diet may just be what you need.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) tends to cause either diarrhea or constipation often denoted by IBS-D and IBS-C. There is a third classification that is also used which is IBS-A, which means that the symptoms alternate between diarrhea and constipation. This article will look at IBS with constipation and discuss tips to help with the condition.

Causes The cause is not clear. It may have something to do with overactivity of parts of the gut. The gut is a long muscular tube that goes from the mouth to the anus. The small and large bowel (also called the small and large intestine) are parts of the gut inside the abdomen. Food is passed along by regular contractions (squeezes) of the muscles in the wall of the gut.

Essentially constipation is when the passage of waste through a person's intestine slows down, leading to dry and hard stools that they struggle to eliminate. IBS with constipation can cause a lot of discomfort and can lead to long periods of time sitting on the toilet straining (which can also have a knock on effect and cause other conditions like haemorrhoids)

Symptoms of Irritable bowel syndrome Some sign and symptoms related to Irritable bowel syndrome are as follows: Gas. Bloating.

Symptoms Abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort are the main symptoms of IBS. However, symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people have constipation, which means hard, difficult-to-pass, or infrequent bowel movements. Often these people report straining and cramping when trying to have a bowel movement but cannot eliminate any stool, or they are able to eliminate only a small amount.

"The Wrong Way And The Right Way To Free Yourself From IBS With Hypnosis!" Now ... if you think I'm talking about stage hypnosis, mind control, 'IBS is all in your head', taking away your ability to think for yourself or any of that nonsense ... think again. Fact #1 You've already been hypnotised and you do it to yourself every single day! Have you ever heard people use phrases like 'pain in the butt', 'pain in the neck', 'getting under my skin', 'it's breaking my back working here', 'cracking me up', etc etc ... And then having health problems?! The amazing thing about this sort of self hypnosis is that when the mind believes it, the body acts upon it as though it were real. I know YOU repetitively use certain words and phrases, either aloud or in your head. Are your words and phrases helpful or harmful to your gut? You know ... hypnosis isn't good or bad. It just works! And it works for anyone with a pulse ... but when it's used positively, the greatest dreams you have will seem like mere cartoons compared with the life you can create for your future. Keep reading to find out how ... But ... if you don't know how to use it for yourself, or if you haven't got someone using it correctly with you, you're blindly playing darts with your body as the target ... with little hope of creating a healthy gut. Now if you're curious about what the heck hypnosis has to do with something as embarrassing, painful and serious as IBS, keep reading ... Fact 2# Whatever affects your brain influences your gut! Some examples are stress, fear, anxiety, negative thoughts, low self-esteem, distorted perceptions etc etc ... all of these can harm your digestive and bowel functions. Why? Because processing in the communication link between the gut and the brain can dramatically influence the outcome of IBS. Sensations of pain and disturbed bowel function results from how the gut 'knows' what to do ... More specifically, the cycle of the gut - nervous system loop resulting in diarrhoea or constipation ... comes from the signals through processing in the brain ... There is always a loop going on between the brain and the gut, so make sure you get in control of this cycle fast. Fact 3# Hypnosis can help restore digestive & bowel functioning safely. In an altered state of consciousness such as trance induced by hypnosis ... it's entirely possible for the processing of the gut-brain cycle to be restored to a healthy level of processing. When you're in a healthy trance state ... you can influence bodily functions that you normally can't, such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate etc etc ... Now for your IBS it's a matter of learning to control your own digestive processes too. Recently a study of 250 patients aged 19-79 years, 50 male, at the Dept of Medicine, University Hospital of South Manchester ... concluded that this study clearly demonstrates that 'hypnotherapy remains an extremely effective treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome which should prove more cost-effective as new, more expensive drugs come on to the market' (adapted in part from study). Now ... what does this mean for YOU? For starters, correcting the processing of your gut-brain cycle which is normally not under conscious control ... can dramatically improve your gut and your quality of life ... the most natural, safest and fastest method that has been scientifically proven to work, is hypnotherapy. But be warned ... In some parts of the world hypnotherapy isn't regulated, so you've got some people practising that have only read books or attended a weekend seminar on hypnosis ... So be careful who you work with. You'll find some great practitioners though. Better still ... If you can find one trained in the methods used in the study done in Manchester as mentioned above ... your chances of success will increase dramatically. Now ... please don't think that I am saying hypnosis is the only way to sooth IBS. Just as repeating negative thoughts in your mind aggravates your gut, so too can your diet and lifestyle choices. It isn't rocket science to understand how a diet of burgers, fries and high sugar (particularly fructose & fructan rich) content foods don't work well for IBS. There's a fantastic new program called 'Cure IBS Fast' that's from a hypnotherapist (yours truly ) trained in the approach used in the Manchester study that proved how effective hypnosis is in treating IBS. In addition to 4 self-relaxation CDs, I've also compiled the latest diets, exercises, remedies and much more for you to use privately ... to quickly & easily relieve IBS and it's embarrassing consequences without having to rely on drugs. This program comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and is only available from www.cureibsfast.com For a limited time, I am offering the e-books and 4 self hypnosis audio sessions for $US67.00 with free shipping worldwide. PLUS if you order within the next 7 days I will include an exclusive set of recipes to tantalize your tastebuds (imagine eating again without worrying about IBS ' how great would that feel), valued at $US27 FREE. Visit www.cureibsfast.com It doesn't matter if it's 2:00 in the morning.

Treatment for IBS, as for any physiological condition, works best when it successfully addresses the cause of the condition. The various conditions that can cause IBS, outlined in the Diagnosis and Etiology sections above, require specific treatments. High rates of success in resolving IBS symptoms have been reported when treatment is specifically tailored to the underlying causes revealed through proper testing for the range of known causes of IBS symptoms.

Mucus in the stool. Feeling sick with it. Swollen or bloated abdomen. Bloating and fullness of wind. Alternating between one and the other.

Also, increase the volume of pure water consumed. There is no substitute for pure, fresh water when it comes to helping the body eliminate waste. 8 - 10 8oz cups should be enough each day, but add more if there are foods that act as diuretics in your diet, or if you live in a hot climate or if you exercise.

Eating foods that are high in fiber is a great way to avoid or reduce constipation. Eating fiber-rich diet can help reduce the chances of constipation by softening the stool.

Treatment The best way to handle IBS is to eat a healthy diet, avoid foods that seem to make you feel worse and find ways to handle your stress.

Anti-diarrheal medications: Over-the-counter medications such as loperamide (Imodium) can help control diarrhea. Drugs which are used for diarrhoea, such as codeine, can be helpful, but are used less because they can be addictive.

Both insoluble and soluble fiber is important. Insoluble fiber helps to bulk and soften the stool, and soluble fiber will help with the passage of the stool carrying more gel/ liquid along with the waste matter and help soothe the intestines.

Treatment of Irritable bowel syndrome Here is list of the methods for treating Irritable bowel syndrome: Fiber supplements or laxatives for constipation or medicines to decrease diarrhea, such as Lomotil or loperamide (Imodium).

Some people with IBS find that careful eating helps reduce or eliminate IBS symptoms. You might try avoiding very large meals, drinks with caffeine, spicy or fatty foods, chocolate, some dairy products, and foods that contain gluten. Some people find that adding fiber ??? eating more fruits and vegetables, for instance ??? and drinking more water can help eliminate IBS symptoms, too.

Factor's that seem to produce sympatoms of IBS include diet, emotional stress and hormones. Ordinary events such as eating and distention from gas or other material in the colon can cause an overreaction in the person with IBS.

I am going to reveal the shocking truth about ...

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a problem that affects mainly the bowel. It is a disorder characterized most commonly by cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. It can be found in children, often is first identified in adolescence and can resolve unexpectedly for periods of time throughout an individuals lifespan, reoccurring at any age. IBS causes a great deal of discomfort and distress, but it does not permanently harm the intestines and does not lead to a serious disease, such as cancer. The disorder accounts for more than one out of every 10 doctor visits. For most people, signs and symptoms of irritable bowel disease are mild. It is fairly common and makes up 20-50% of visits to gastroenterologists. Lower abdominal pain, and bloating associated with alteration of bowel habits and abdominal discomfort relieved with defecation are the most frequent symptoms. It is also called the large intestine. Women are affected more often than men. It's not the same as inflammatory bowel diseases like ulcerative colitis. Colitis, for instance, means inflammation of the large intestine (colon). IBS, however, does not cause inflammation and should not be confused with ulcerative colitis, which is a more serious disorder.

Complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and homeopathy, are often used. Some people find complementary treatments such as acupuncture help, although there is little scientific proof of their effectiveness.

When all else fails, a small dose of a medication usually used to treat depression can be effective. This seems to work in a much smaller dose than is used for depression, and may, in part, work by mimicking the nervous system to the bowel.

This information will over time help to identify the foods that cause the constipation. If the elimination of your waste material is too slow, it is likely to mean that that too much water has been absorbed by the body, causing you to be constipated. It could also mean that the diet lacks the foods required to make the stool bulky but soft.

Some people with IBS find that increasing the amount of dietary fibre and reducing caffeine helps. The word syndrome means a group of symptoms. IBS is a syndrome because it can cause several symptoms. For example, IBS causes cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and constipation. Most people can control their symptoms with diet, stress management, and prescribed medications. For some people, however, IBS can be disabling. They may be unable to work, attend social events, or even travel short distances. In many cases, you can control irritable bowel syndrome by managing your diet, lifestyle and stress. Colon motility (contraction of intestinal muscles and movement of its contents) is controlled by nerves and hormones and by electrical activity in the colon muscle. IBS should not be confused with colitis or other inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract and IBS is not limited to the colon. In some individuals, IBS may have an acute onset and develop after an infectious illness characterised by two or more of the following: fever , vomiting , acute diarrhea , positive stool culture. This post-infective syndrome has consequently been termed "post-infectious IBS" and is acute onset Rome II criteria positive. This condition is more homogenous, being mostly IBS-D and is drawing much clinical investigation.

This makes it easier for your stomach contents to pass through your intestine at a quicker pace. You should increase dietary fiber slowly over a few weeks, so that your digestive system can cope with the change. Good sources of fiber include fruits, vegetables, cereals and whole-wheat bread, as well as beans.

An antispasmodic is commonly prescribed, which helps to control colon muscle spasms and reduce abdominal pain. Antidepressants may relieve some symptoms.
